Please see the instructions for setting up a free or paid version of Mailchimp below.
Once you have created your account we will need your username and password in order to set up email templates for you.
Creating a Free Account
- Go to Mailchimp and click sign up.
- This will take you to a pricing menu, with options for ‘Marketing Platform’ ‘Websites & Commerce’ and ’Transactional Email’ at the top of the screen under the menu.
- Select the ‘Websites & Commerce’ tab, then sign up for free in the right-hand table column.
- Enter your email, username, and password then check your emails to click the account activation link sent by Mailchimp.
- This will then take you to another pricing table, just click ‘Continue free’ in the right-hand column of the table.
- You will then need to enter your name and business name, followed by a business address that appears on the bottom of emails – this can be a PO box if needed.
- Mailchimp will then ask you what your top goal is. We recommend selecting ‘Email Marketing‘ if your goal is to send out branded content to a mail list. Otherwise, we recommend selecting ‘Sending emails people find helpful or entertaining‘ if you using it to develop email templates to send to clients individually.
- Then you will need to select ‘Emails’ in ‘What to explore first’.
- You will then need to enter the number of email subscribers you have – we recommend selecting 500 or fewer depending on the size of your company.
- You can then skip the answer to the next question, ‘How do you sell to your customers’.
- An option to ‘Import your Brand‘ will then come up, you can enter your company website URL to import brand colours and logos.
- You can then choose if you want to receive any news from Mailchimp – we recommend just selecting finish.
- This will then take you to your profile, where you can create audiences, email campaigns and email templates.
- From here we will just need your username and password to create and develop content for your business.
Creating a Paid Account
- Go to Mailchimp and click sign up.
- This will take you to a pricing menu, with options for ‘Marketing Platform’ ‘Websites & Commerce’ and ’Transactional Email’ at the top of the screen under the menu.
- Make sure the ‘Marketing Platform’ tab is selected, then choose the number of subscribers for your account.
- Then change the currency to Australian dollars if it hasn’t automatically done it for you.
- You will then need to select the yellow ‘Buy Now’ button under the column we have recommended for you.
- Enter your email, username, and password then check your emails to click the account activation link sent by Mailchimp.
- You will then need to enter your name and business name, followed by a business address that appears on the bottom of emails – this can be a PO box if needed. We can remove this on the templates, but Mailchimp requires you to enter a physical address where you can recieve mail.
- Mailchimp will then ask you what your top goal is. We recommend selecting ‘Email Marketing‘ if your goal is to send out branded content to a mail list.
- Then you will need to select ‘Emails’ in ‘What to explore first’.
- You can then skip the answer to the next question, ‘How do you sell to your customers’.
- An option to ‘Import your Brand‘ will then come up, you can enter your company website URL to import brand colours and logos. (Please note: If more than one company is using the account, you can skip this step.)
- You can then choose if you want to receive any news from Mailchimp – we recommend just selecting finish.
- This will then take you to your profile, where you can create audiences, email campaigns and email templates.
- From here we will need admin access to your account. To do this, we will just need your username and password to add ourselves to the account. This may send you an authentication email, in which case we will just need the code to log in.
